The lodge is located on the outskirts of Kippford, a historic boat building and sailing village, and only a short walk from the picturesque seaside village of Rockcliffe (either through the forest or along the famous Jubilee Path).
Riverview Lodge occupies an elevated position above Kippford facing SSW in a private wooded setting amidst beautiful scenic countryside. Hence, it has a spectacular sea view down the Urr Estuary and across to Screel.
It is situated within Riverview Park, a small residential area extending to some 3 acres with only 15 other chalets, each privately owned, and surrounded by open countryside and farmland. Riverview Park was the original 'park' (or grounds) of Orchard Knowes, a substantial, granite gentleman's residence once owned by Lord Young. From here it's an easy walk into the village for a bite to eat and a pint of Solway Gold or Criffel (locally brewed ales) in one of two local inns, or homemade cakes and cappuccino at The Ark, a charming waterfront cafe and gift shop.
